Civil Service Strollers have been granted £5,000 from the Scottish Football Partnership to contribute to the costs of installing floodlights at Christie Gillies Park.

The north Edinburgh club was awarded planning permission earlier this month to install floodlights.

Club President, Russell Pryde, said “We are delighted that the Scottish Football Partnership supported our application for funding.

“This is a boost for us as we start raising the funds to ensure we have floodlights installed as soon as we can.

“I would like to thank Stuart and everyone at the Partnership for their support.

Changes to SFA licensing criteria means that all clubs are required to have floodlights to maintain membership of the SFA and compete in the Scottish Cup – a competition Civil have played in since 1925.

Stuart McCaffrey, Chief Operating Officer at the Scottish Football Partnership, said “The Scottish Football Partnership’s Facility Strategy Awards are designed to help Scottish FA Member clubs playing in Senior Leagues with infrastructure improvements linked to their National Club License.

“We are delighted to be part funding the installations of new Floodlights at Civil Service Strollers and hope they will be of benefit to the club in the years ahead.”
