10th Minute Winner For The Star

10th Minute Winner For The Star

Dalbeattie Star arrived at Christie Gillies Park not having won a match at The Strollers home ground whether it be in the league or a cup since 2016. After a hurting defeat to Bonnyrigg last weekend, Civil were eager to correct that against star.

A day that saw howling winds, rain and a one goal win for Dalbeattie to go away with the monkey off their back.

The game saw some great football played from the young Strollers side and it was a day to be keeping the ball on the ground and play passing football that is for sure. From kick off the wind played havoc to balls that were cleared and with the wind going against the strollers sensible heads had to be put on.

It only took until the 10th minute when a clearance from The Strollers saw it come back with the wind for Dan Orsi to knock the ball past keeper Mac Whyte to give Star the lead and get their tails up.

A second half performance from The Strollers saw them coming close to scoring on many occasions, a claim for a penalty and a dominating second half performance, but it was just one of these days and the game ended 0-1 to Dalbeattie. We head to Alliance Park this Tuesday 9th November to face Caledonian Braves – 19:45 kick off.
